Children's craftwork

playmais farmKids and craftwork!  Mess! Mess! Mess!  Ah - not necessarily.  PlayMais is unbelievably clean to use.  Made from corn/maize, and coloured with natural food dyes (no harmful ‘e’ numbers and any staining simply washes away) it’s so easy to use.  Just dab on a damp cloth and it will stick  - to itself, paper, card, and – stand back and be amazed – glass and cotton fabric! ! !  Because maize is a starch, the addition of moisture causes it to make its own glue.  It can be cut with any serrated edge – usually a picnic knife (which could also be made from corn) using a gentle sawing action.  Three D models or 2D pictures – the imagination is the only limit to what can be made from PlayMais and it isn’t harmful to the environment in any way.  Everything in the box is 100% biodegradable, so you can just bung it in the compost bin.

The maize used is not genetically modified, and it is grown in fields that would otherwise have lain fallow so it doesn’t displace food or fodder production.  When it’s ready, the maize is harvested and the ‘niblets’ are used to make PlayMais, with the remainder, the leaves, stalk etc going into a Digester to make bio-gas.  This is then turned into electricity and used to power the plant that makes the PlayMais.  Any extra electricity is channeled into the national grid.  The residue from the bio-plant is stabilized for 6 months and then used as fertilizer for the land, which then grows more maize!  So in a very positive sense – what goes around comes around and kids can have loads of creative fun with PlayMais into the bargain.   It’s much more beneficial than ‘exercising the thumbs’ or watching the box for hours and kind to the planet too.  PlayMais, 100% natural, 100% sustainable, 100% biodegradable – no glue – no mess!
